Academic Statement

I am a passionate psychotherapist who believes deeply in the transformative power of words and the ability to craft our own narratives to give meaning to life experiences. In 2020, I made a significant career shift from being a school social worker in Elementary and Middle Schools to establishing my private therapy practice in the Bronx, New York.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the philosophy of bibliotherapy, where literature, poetry, and expressive writing become powerful tools in supporting individuals on their journey to well-being. I work with a diverse clientele, spanning children, families, couples, adolescents, and adults, offering a comprehensive range of virtual therapy services. From psychotherapy and parent coaching to professional consultation and personalized book prescription services, my goal is to make healing practices accessible and tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Currently undertaking training with The International Federation of Biblio Poetry Therapy to obtain the credential of Certified Poetry Therapist (CPT). My belief in the profound impact of words extends to my active involvement in the National Association of Poetry Therapy (NAPT), where I engage in the collective exploration of the healing potential of language.

I hold a firm belief in public scholarship, recognizing the importance of making healing practices accessible to all. By honoring the diverse ways we engage in practices that bring solace, validation, and self-awareness, I strive to create an inclusive and supportive therapeutic environment.

My innovative work has garnered recognition, and I've been featured in notable publications such as Parents Magazine, Bold Journey Magazine, Bronx Net News, and The Bronx Is Reading.

In the spirit of accessibility, I facilitate an online therapeutic book community titled "Libros y la curacion | Healing Through Books." Additionally, my debut book, "Bibliotherapy In The Bronx," is set to be released in April 2025 with Row House Publishing, offering insights into my unique therapeutic approach and experiences.

Academically, I earned a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Mount Holyoke College and a Masters in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. As a permanently licensed school social worker and a SIFI Certified clinical supervisor, I bring both academic rigor and practical expertise to my practice.

Residing in the Bronx with my husband, two children, and psychiatric service dog, Montana, I am committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those I serve and fostering a community where the power of words becomes a source of healing and empowerment.
