Population
Adult mental health/psychiatric programs. KidCOTE which can be used for children and young adolescents in mental health/psychiatric programs. (3-11)

Purpose & Areas Assessed
Used to identify behaviors that impact occupational performance, simply communicate this information to other team members, and allow easy retrieval of data needed for treatment planning and evaluating progress.
Administration
5-20 minutes, individual administration, follow instructions on assessment.
User Qualifications
Occupational Therapist.
Materials
Assessment and pen/pencil.
Scoring Procedure
Different occupational areas are rated on a scale of 0-4 by the client. These different areas are added up. For example, 0 means the patient is compliant and ready for therapy; while a 4 means the patient isn’t compliant and isn’t going to participate in therapy.
Psychometrics/Standardization
Reliability: Interrater [95%]
Validity: Validity was determined by randomly selecting the charts of 5 discharged patients and comparing the scores for the first and last days of OT. The drop in scores agreed with observation of other professionals [adequate]
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: Shows areas of competence or deficiency and is easy to administer.
Weaknesses: Not a lot of information on reliability and validity.
