When it comes to coping with grief, death and dying, it is important to know there there is no correct way to overcome it. Each individual goes through the process in their own unique and individual way.
Intervention: Memory Box
Audience: Children, adolescents or adults
Diagnosis & Population: Anyone who is going through any form of grief or the death of a loved one.
Instructions: Find a box that will be able to hold memories of your choosing. You will be able to fill the box with meaningful objects or photographs that help represent the loss or sadness. Objects or memories put into the box can be ones that just remind you of them or something that physically belonged to the individual they are grieving over.
Purpose: To help find a healthy way to cope
Rationale & Impact on Function: Creating a visual representation will help the healing process as they are able to have a comfort box to go to when they start to get upset. It will give the individual a positive reminder or good memories that were had instead of negative thoughts about how they are not there in the present, which could impact their mental health.
