DBT is a specialized form of Cognitive Behavioral therapy which has been shown to be highly effective in assisting patients to reduce self destructive behaviors and to assist individuals in regulating their emotions.Ā This comprehensive program will heighten patientās awareness to their self-destructive thoughts and behaviors and will facilitate the development of healthier methods of coping.Ā
Patients will also be assisted in looking at lifestyle changes that will reduce crisis in their lives.Ā Individualized homework assignments focused on treatment goals will be provided as well as a comprehensive plan of how to manage symptoms and stressors outside of the hospital. Our highly-trained nursing staff provides āskills coachingā to patients, allowing them to practice these skills while on the unit so that they can generalization these skills into their daily life.
Patients who exhibit emotional dysregulation or self-destructive behaviors, with concurrent diagnoses such as:Ā
depression,Ā
anxiety disorders,Ā
borderline personality disorder,Ā
post traumatic stress disorderĀ
and self-injurious behaviors are ideal candidates for this comprehensive inpatient treatment.
Adult Services recognizes the need to provide concurrent treatment for individuals struggling with both a psychiatric diagnosis and an addiction.Ā Ā
Individualized assignments which are tailored to the patientās stage of treatment will be provided.Ā Patients will be educated on the interaction between their psychiatric symptoms and their addiction.Ā Specific focus will be placed on the development of a relapse prevention plan and making recommendations for continued dual diagnosis treatment to continue to promote their recovery upon discharge.
