Unlike the rest of the districts in the Caledonian Empire, the capital of the Khartoum Desert is always moving, as it is a series of caravans that are constantly crossing the desert sands. Led by the Karim Family, these large trading caravans move through the desert to each city, supporting the entire economy of Khartoum.
Each city specializes in several specific trades, while producing enough to supply the rest of their district with the needed essentials. There have been proposals to try and modernize this system from the rest of the Empire, but the Karim Family always pushes back, insistent their method works perfectly fine.
