This file is only to be used if you are applying to the roleplay group Myths Of Arcana, in order to fill out your character application.
There are options to change the text, font, stats, and select whether or not the character is an NPC or Player Character.
This Visual Application must be filled out and accompanied by a completed Written Application Template in order to be considered a completed application.
The moderators heavily recommend for you to read the How To Join, and Character Creation sections on our website when filling out your application.
If you are unable to use a program that opens PSD files, there are options to download the blank png.
You can also ask for assistance in the official Discord Server, and a moderator would be happy to fill out the application with the needed text fields and stats on your behalf.

DÆMON NAME: Replace the text with your character's dæmon name. It can be a traditional full human name, a nickname, or anything else that could qualify as a name.
DÆMON SPECIES: Replace the text with your character's dæmon species. If it is a hybrid please include both species. PRNOUNS: Replace the text with your character's dæmon preferred pronouns.
GENDER: Replace the text with the gender your character's dæmon identifies with.

STATS: You have a total of 30 stat points to distribute however you see fit. We recommend for you to read the webpage, Abilities & Stats when filling out this section. Please take this seriously, and think about your stat placement carefully, for these numbers will be used for in group mechanics. You will have the ability to edit, increase, or decrease stat points when in the group.
APPLICATION ART: The two main display areas of the application are for you to portray your character's visual appearance and their dæmon's visual appearance. There are several guidelines you must follow for this.
The entire body of your character and their dæmon must be visible and in full color
Artwork must either be done by you, or by someone else you have either commissioned or have permission from to use their work. Tracing or using Bases is not allowed and will cause your application to be declined.
Characters must be wearing some sort of clothing that covers their chest and bottoms. Please keep the setting of MoA in mind and try to use accurate clothing to the world.
If a dæmon has different forms, such as a Floron dæmon having flowers that change with the seasons, or a Eosta dæmon who's appearance changes with the weather, you only need to include one form of the dæmon on the application.
The side bars next to the main boxes for your character's artwork can be used as a color pallet display area. You are free to remove this feature as well on the application if you are not interested in using it.
In MoA there are certain guidelines for your characters that must be followed.
Your character cannot be over 240cm/8ft tall, unless medically diagnosed with gigantism
Your character cannot be under 120cm/4ft, unless medically diagnosed with dwarfism and midgetism
Characters with disabilities must be researched and represented in a respectful manner
Your human character cannot be a minor
NPCs can be minors, but must have a guardian of some kind
Your character cannot be evil aligned.
This meaning your character can have self serving traits, they just can't be evil.
Dæmons cannot have genitalia
Dæmons can be resized to a reasonable extent.
ex. a toad dæmon could be as big as a domesticated cat
You could not have an elephant dæmon be as small as a domesticated cat
If your dæmon is too small or large to get around every day life, it can retreat into it's wisp state for easy convenience
Your character or dæmon cannot have a fully non-organic body
ex. a robot/android/plush toy/plastic/golem
An exception to this rule is dæmons can display traits such as these if the Arcana can explain it
In MoA your character can have any eye color or hair color, natural or otherwise. Glamour Magic is incredibly common place, so rings or jewelry that are enchanted with glamour spells for a character to have a certain visual aesthetic are allowed. This can range from your character having magical tattoos, to unique pupils, hair with flame effects etc. You must specify that your character is using glamour magic on your application though.
For fashion, MoA uses a hybrid of Fantasy and Modern clothing combined with elite couture. This meaning your character can dress in a fantasy way, a modern way, or a hybridization of the two. Just keep in mind where in Caledonia they come from when creating their clothing.
Dæmons can be nearly any type of animal species you can find on earth. However there are several guidelines that must be followed.
A dæmon's species can be as vague as you wish it to be, for example you can have a particular breed of cat or dog for your dæmon, or just call it a cat or dog.
If you do go the vague route, make sure your character's dæmon only has traits that are recognizable to the description of what it's species is. For example, a dog should only have traits that are seen as dog-esq.
Your dæmon can be any mammal, avian, reptile, insect, amphibian, vertebrate, and invertebrate that has ever existed (so long as it isn't a banned species.)
This does not include extinct species, meaning you cannot have a velociraptor for a dæmon.
Creatures that are normally found in water, do not require water to exist, as they can retreat to their wisp state when away from water.
There are certain living creatures on the planet that simply cannot qualify for being a valid base form of a dæmon. Those creatures will be listed here.
Plants & Fungi
Simple Microscopic Creatures, AKA anything smaller than half a centimeter
Parasitic Worms
Bacteria & Viruses
Sponges & Corals
MoA allows dæmon characters to have up to two animals in a hybrid so long as you have purchased the corresponding in-group item. They can be any species of animal, excluding mythological, combined in any way you see fit. However there are some guidelines you must follow, including the limits put in place from the Dæmon Species section.
Some mythological creatures are only considered mythological due to the fact they are a hybridized species. Examples including the gryphon, chimera, cockatrice, hippogriff, hipocampi etc. While these animals can be classified solely as hybrids, due to their prestigious standing of mythological proportions you cannot make a hybrid dæmon and call it by the corresponding creature of myth's name, without purchasing the corresponding item in group. You can however, make a half cat, half bird creature, that looks like a gryphon, but it cannot be called a gryphon.
Dæmon's can have small, unique traits not typical to their species without being considered a hybrid, so long as these changes are very small. For example, a deer dæmon can have sharp teeth typically found in predator species, but it cannot have fangs like a vampire bat. Smaller noses, bigger ears, longer or shorter tails, all of these are reasonably small changes that would not tread into hybrid territory.
Dæmon characters will be considered hybrids if they have at least one trait that cannot be explained with their Arcana. For example, a fox with rabbit ears will be considered a crossbreed, even if only the ears are the only visible difference between the dæmon and a common fox. This means that the ratio for a hybrid can be anything you desire, from 50/50 to something more like 9/10ths.
Real life animal hybrids will also already count as a hybrid, and cannot be crossed with another animal species. These include animals such as the wolf-dog, mule, liger, wolphin, coywolf, cama, zorse, etc.
There is a slight exception to this rule when it comes to subspecies of animals. For example, cats, horses, and dogs have many different breeds but aren't classified as different species. Meaning, you could technically have a mixed bengal and russian blue cat with a cow without the cat mix being classified as a hybrid.
MoA allows dæmon characters to be creatures of myth so long as the corresponding in-group item is purchased. Your character's dæmon can be any type of creature from myth, the moderators only ask for you to be respectful when portraying mythological creatures from other cultures. Cultural appropriation/fetishization will not be tolerated.
You can create a hybrid creature of myth so long as you have the corresponding items, and the character is not already considered a hybrid. For example, a gryphon could not be hybridized as it is already a hybrid of a big cat and bird.
A creature of myth that is humanoid in appearance, such as a mermaid, centaur, mothman, bigfoot etc. would not be allowed. A dæmon cannot be considered half human, or have human anatomy.
Since dæmons are creatures of magic, it's fair to say you have a substantial amount of flexibility when it comes to designing their physical appearance.
COLORING
Natural colorations and patterns of animals found in nature will always be allowed for a dæmon's design if it is so desired, but you aren't just limited to natural colors. Due to the presence of Arcana, dæmons can have more vibrant colors or less natural looking patterns depending on their Major Arcana and Minor Arcanas. You may use any types of desaturated/muted colors as a base for your dæmon, with their Arcana influencing the more saturated/vibrant colors of their design.
For example, a dæmon with an Inferno Arcana might have flame/smoke design elements with bright and warm reds or oranges.
As long as you can explain where the design principles of your character come from, the possibilities and potential are nearly endless.
ARCANE TRAITS
Characters can have traits not traditionally seen in their species if it corresponds to their Arcane Elements. For example, a dæmon with an Aquarion arcana might have gills, fins, or webbed feet. We only ask for you to be reasonable when adding these fun traits. If you aren't careful you might teeter on the edge of having your dæmon become a hybrid, which requires the purchase of an in-group item in order to unlock. While gills, fins, or webbed feet are acceptable traits for an Aquarion aligned dæmon, a full on fish tale would cross the line into hybrid territory if the character was not already a fish.
However there is an exception to this rule, horns, spikes, and wings can always be added if your character has a Nocta or Aetherna Arcana, without it being classified as a crossbred. Any type of wings can be added so characters with the Aetherna Arcana can fly, while horns and spikes aren't really specific to certain species of animals.
When a human and dæmon decide to undergo the bonding ceremony, they fuse into one whole creature. There are several stipulations that come with this territory when designing your character.
A human that has become Bonded, will exhibit traits that their dæmon possessed when separated.
For example, a human who had a cat-like daemon can physically display the same cat ears or a tail that their dæmon originally had.
The human's hair or eye color may change to match the dæmon's original physical form as well.
When bonded, the human will exhibit, at most, 40% of their dæmon’s physical traits.
This makes centaur and naga like creatures impossible, however, it is possible to have portions of limbs reflect the dæmon.
For example, a human who has bonded with a hooved dæmon may have hooves instead of feet, but these hooved legs would only go up to the knee.
A bonded character can have multiple limbs if their dæmon's original form had multiple limbs, but it will be reviewed critically by the moderator team on a case by case basis.
If a Bonded character posses wings in any capacity, they cannot fly without magical effort. A spell slot must be used for active and controlled flight. A Bonded character with wings, can glide passively, without needing a spell slot.
If you have edits you wish to make to your character, please refer to the Updates & Retcons section of our website for general guidelines. Characters grow and change as we use them, so don't feel too pressured by what you first establish for your character.
Humans and dæmon's powers grow and evolve as they move through life, so if you feel like your character's powers need a slight change or an upgrade, it is more than possible to make that adjustment without purchasing the in group Arcane Ability editing item. The moderators would just wish to gently remind you that this is currently a privilege in the group, if too many people try to change their character's powers frequently, then we will remove this feature.
To minor adjust a character's power all you need to do is come up with the new power, say which power it is replacing, and drop a link to it in the magic review chatroom in the Discord.
The moderators will review the change and let you know if any adjustments need to be made, or if you are good to go.
If the change is more drastic or classified as a retcon, you will need the in group Arcane Ability editing item in your inventory before you approach the moderator team for an official review.
