Dæmons are the term for the magical companions every mortal is born with. They are the very aspect of our souls given physical form. These mystical creatures take the form of animals and have a wide range of magical abilities. Commonly described as soul siblings, dæmons appear at the birth of their human companion. One could think of dæmons as the familiar companions to humans, as they store the innate magic of their human counterpart. A human without a dæmon companion is someone to be pitied extensively, as they lack one half of their being, their closest ally, their truest friend.
A human child is not able to summon their dæmon instantly, they must reach a certain level of personal maturity. Until that time the creature appears as a formless essence, like a wisp. This wisp like form stays with the dæmon it's entire life, in fact it's fairly common for humans with incredibly large or small dæmons to keep the creatures in their wisp state.
A dæmon settles on it's permanent form once the child grows and develops a core persona. With that inner sense of self and maturity, the dæmon will transform into a creature that reflects their host’s innate self. For example, a more clever human may have a fox dæmon, or a skittish one might have a deer. It is very rare for a dæmon to change it’s base form after a human has matured into adulthood, but this has been known to take place on rare occasions. Extensive trauma, Arcane exposure, or life changing situations have lead to the few instances where an adult’s dæmon has taken on a new core form.
Dæmons and their humans have a deep, irrefutable bond; while disagreements are sure to be had there is always a true love and care for each other. A human and their dæmon are two halves of the same whole. While dæmons can be considered a separate creature, their loyalty and sense of self is directly tied to their human. Dæmons are able to think their own independent thoughts, but at the end of the day dæmons at their core are the physical personification of their human’s soul and magic. A human and their dæmon are one entity in two bodies, to the extent that dæmons are able to exhibit their human host's rawest form of thought and emotion.
Due to this, it is incredibly frowned upon to physically interact with the dæmons of others, unless one is a close friend, partner, or family member; it is very intimate to interact with the personification of someone's soul. However dæmons can freely interact with other dæmons without being seen as taboo or wrong.
Examples of the unique relationship between human and dæmon found in other media would be Dæmons from His Dark Materials, Patronuses from Harry Potter, Kosmo & Keith from Voltron, or Melog & Catra from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Magic has existed in the world since the dawn of time, and has long been considered to be a gift from the gods. There are multiple classifications of magic that have been discovered throughout the history of mankind. Over time, these varieties were sorted into groups called The Arcane Houses. There are four different Houses with three elements in each House, each element is a crucial building block that makes up the natural world around us. These classifications were based on how specific elements interacted with each other while keeping a delicate balance.
Every human and dæmon pair are born with a specific elemental magic affinity they are able to refine as they age. This dominant ability is referred to as an individual's Major Arcana. A Major Arcana can be any element found in the first three Arcane Houses. The fourth and final House is made up of elements that can only be used as a Minor Arcana. Speaking of, the term Minor Arcana refers to any elemental abilities a human and dæmon pair choose to learn and master. Some individuals have no Minor Arcane abilities, while others may have up to three. Once a Minor Arcana is learned, this magical affinity may cause the dæmon's physical form to shift and change in order to reflect the newly added Arcane influence.
Major and Minor Arcanas usually function independently of each other and do not mix. This can only change when a user decides to specialize in a Minor Arcana from the Fourth Arcane House. With a Minor from that specific classification, it is possible for the user's arcane elements to interact with each other, which may potentially result in a new form of hybrid magic. With the elements of the world at one's finger tips the possibilities for magical growth and discovery are limitless, so long as one respects the Arcane Houses and what they entail.
The first of these Elemental Houses is referred to as The Primal House, as it contains the base elements that support all life; Fire, Water, and Nature. The Inferno Arcana hosts all aspects of fire based magic, while the Aquarion Arcana rules over all aspects of water based magic, no matter if it's a solid, liquid, or vapor. Lastly, the Floron Arcana entails all plant and nature based magic. Fire, Water, and Nature, these three elements keep each other in balance while sustaining life in all forms.
The second House is known as The Vital House, as it contains the elements that allow the world we know and love to exist. Air, Lightning, and Earth, these are what provide an environment for life to flourish. The Aetherna Arcana covers all aspects of air and wind based magic, meanwhile the Elektra Arcana presides over electricity, lightning, and plasma. The Terron Arcana encompasses all acts of earth and ground based magic, including metal and gemstones. This House lets our dreams soar into the Skies above while giving us a Grounded approach to the exciting Spark that is life.
The third House in this Arcane family has been aptly named The Ethereal House, as it contains magic that bleeds into the spiritual and astral realm. Darkness, Light, and Mysticism are what give us agency to change and influence the world we live in. These magics have no stigmas or specific moralities attached to them. Darkness cannot exist without Light, just as Light cannot exist without Darkness. They are equal forces with no sway to what is right or wrong, the individual decides what these magics should be viewed as with their actions. The Nocta Arcana entails all aspects known as dark magic, while the Eosta Arcana encompasses all acts of light based magic. Lastly the Mystik Arcana presides over the grey area between the former two, ruling over acts of spirituality, sense of self, and other-worldliness.
Finally there is The Cardinal House, the classification of magic that was used to build the universe itself. All forms of magic are influenced by this house, which is why no mortals with a Major Arcana from this house have ever existed, this type of power is reserved for gods alone. Destruction, Creation, and Form, all these were called upon to build and shape the world and universe we live in. The Corrosen Arcana covers all aspects of destruction, meaning it can intensify the destructive components of other Arcana, or it can be used to break down other elements into their base fundamentals to be reconstructed into something new. The Makra Arcana presides over the physical act of creation, and can be used to summon magic with a physical presence, such as an Arcana infused sword or shield. Lastly, there is the Temprol Arcana, magic that focuses on the physical forms of elements, allowing the user to move their element between different states of matter, such as solids, liquids, and gases at will.
As one can see, the possibilities for magic are nearly limitless, customization allows the user to truly refine their magical abilities into whatever blend of elements best fits their needs, if they so desire.
With the elements of the world at one's fingertips, and an innate magical ability, one can become whatever they wish to be. While there are few reports of an individual being able to change their Major Arcana, the customization of having up to three Minor Arcana more than makes up for the set back. A user and their dæmon are able to explore themselves fully and study the elements and choices which matter the most to them, allowing their inner spirt to shine through to the outside world.
A human and dæmon pair are able to perfect their magical potential so long as they are working together in order to master their powers. After all, magic is a sacred art that demands respect and time in order for the user to reach their full capability. This form of self expression provides an intimate connection with Arcana, which allows a human and dæmon to truly experience their unique place in the natural world.
