Our Week at a Glance
Math: We will continue Module 5 this week. Students will be working on lesson 5, completing a study guide in class, and taking a test on Thursday. Students should be reviewing the study guide when it is brought home on Wednesday to prepare for their test.
All students should be practicing their multiplication facts for a minimum of ten minutes every night. It is very important that they are fluent in multiplication facts as they continue their educational career. Flashcards are not needed, but if you would like to print a set visit this site. If you are interested in having your student practice on IXL, please view the following video. IXL Video Link
This week, students will bring home a study guide. Please assist your child in studying for the assessment on Friday. Students will also be taking home their in class and homework books for Module 4. These should come out of their backpacks to avoid confusion with the new textbooks.
Reader's Workshop: This week, we will be continuing our Benchmark unit 6 week 2. Students will be focusing on the essential question: what helps us solve problems? We will also continue to assess students' reading levels.
Writer's Workshop: Students will be continuing to practice Informational Writing. They will read a book about Bunnies and write about their habitats, anatomy, life cycle, and diet.
If you do not practice paragraphing/writing at home with your student, now is a great time to start! A good place to begin is to grab a journal and provide them with topics. These topics can range from what they did over the weekend to their favorite place to visit.
If you want to join in on the fun of writing, create a secret diary with your child! This would look like one person writing a short paragraph, passing the diary off, reading, and then responding.
Social Studies: The class will complete their final draft of the Women in History project.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E.
Weekly Reminders:
Daily 20 Reading Log: Please make sure your child is reading a "Just Right" chapter book. Picture books or books that are too easy will not be accepted for daily 20 reading. Your child should begin a book and continue reading it throughout the week. Please make sure they are writing the book title correctly and neatly in their folders.
Weekly Folder: A parent/guardian signature is required weekly. Students will return the folder the next school day.
Communicator: Each day, please read the communicator with your child, check off completed assignments, then sign the communicator.
Thank you,
Mrs. Gibbins
