Our Week at a Glance
Math: This week, students will continue working in Module 3. We will review and have a study guide on Wednesday. Then, on Thursday, students will take a test on lessons 2-6.
Students should be practicing their facts for 10 minutes each night. To move on to the next fact family, they must get 85% or higher. Click here for printable flash cards.
Reader's Workshop: Students will start Unit 4 this week, called Comparing Points of View. Our focus will be answering the essential question: What makes people view the same experience in different ways? We will also be reading about the history of Thanksgiving and today. We will answer comprehension questions on the reading that we do.
Writer's Workshop: This week, students will write a fall leaf narrative. Students will imagine that they are a leaf waiting to fall off their tree. This will be our final fall-themed writing.
Social Studies: Students will continue with Week 20 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. Week 20 teaches students about timelines. Students will learn about chronological order and what the past, present, and future mean. We will also discuss the calendar and how time is represented.
Science: Students continue to observe the traits of closely related organisms: four species of bears. Students analyze data about the traits of a particular bear, comparing the bear's traits with the traits of other bears.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Friday for P.E/Dance this week.
Weekly Reminders:
Daily 20 Reading Log: Please make sure your child is reading a "Just Right" chapter book. Picture books or books that are too easy will not be accepted for daily 20 reading. Your child should begin a book and continue reading it throughout the week. Please make sure they are writing the book title correctly and neatly in their folders.
Weekly Folder: A parent/guardian signature is required weekly. Students will return the folder the next school day.
Communicator: Each day, please read the communicator with your child, check off completed assignments, and then sign the communicator.
Thank you,
Mrs. Gibbins
