Halloween Parade: October 31st at 10:45 am
Halloween Parade: We will be having a school-wide Halloween Parade on Friday at 10:45. You may arrive as early as 10:35. Below are some guidelines from Mrs. Bakoo to keep in mind when selecting a costume:
We ask that children arrive in costume, if they plan to dress up
Please be sure that your child is able to maneuver in their costume independently, especially if they need to use the restroom, remove a piece, etc.
Costumes should be reflective of positive themes
Costumes should be comfortable, safe and not restrict movement or vision\
Please be sure that the costume does not include any look-alike weapons, such as swords, spikes, knives or guns
Masks will be allowed during the Halloween celebration time, but cannot be worn anywhere else on campus to ensure student safety
We ask that students not wear blow-up costumes, as they can be very difficult to safely move around in
Halloween Party: Our Halloween party will be after lunch Friday from 1:00-2:00. Thank you again to all of our volunteers and to those that are donating! We are looking forward to a spooky celebration!
Red Ribbon Week: This week is Red Ribbon week. Students received a BINGO card last Friday for the week. BINGO cards should be turned in by Friday, 10/31 for a prize. We will be doing activities in class, taking a pledge together, and creating a class poster with puzzle pieces. Students are encouraged to wear RED on Wednesday.
Our Week at a Glance
Math: Students will be doing lessons 8-11 this week. These lessons will go over reading temperatures and practicing rounding to the nearest ten or hundred. Students will use vertical number lines to solve problems involving rounding. Students will apply these skills to estimating sums and differences.
Students will have a fluency test every Friday. They should be practicing their facts for 10 minutes each night. If students do not score 85% or above or do not practice for homework, they will not move on to the next fact family. Click here for printable flash cards.
Reader's Workshop: We will be continuing with Week 2 in our benchmark book called Animal Adaptations. We will also be working on some fun, spooky word work!
Writer's Workshop: This week students will be finishing their narratives about a spooky house. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday for P.E. class this week.
Art: Students will be creating an art project that goes with our Spooky House narratives from last week. They will be designing a pop-up house to match their narrative!
Weekly Reminders:
Daily 20 Reading Log: Please make sure your child is reading a "Just Right" chapter book. Picture books or books that are too easy will not be accepted for daily 20 reading. Your child should begin a book and continue reading it throughout the week. Please make sure they are writing the book title correctly and neatly in their folders.
Weekly Folder: A parent/guardian signature is required weekly. Students will return the folder the next school day.
Communicator: Each day, please read the communicator with your child, check off completed assignments, then sign the communicator.
Thank you,
Miss Jensen
