Create Spawn. If a human reaches 0 Strength or hit points due to a shadow's attack, it will die and will rise immediately as a free-willed shadow. The new undead creature hates all life and will immediately attack any life forms in the area. Otherwise, it will band together with the shadow that created it for as long as it suits it's purposes.
Shadow Form. Shadows are 90% undetectable when not moving as they appear to be nothing more than their name. They are able to seamlessly blend into the shadow cast by another creature or object that overlaps with the shadow of the creature itself (thus allowing the creature to remain undetected while it moves). If the shadow attacks a creature whose shadow it inhabits, the shadow remains 90% undetectable, however, if it attacks another creature, it can be seen and attacked normally. In any case, a shadow can be attacked as if it were invisible (assuming the opponent knows it's general location). In areas of bright light, such as full day light or within the radius of a continual light spell, a shadow can be seen as a humanoid-shaped dark stain and attacked normally (although magic is still needed to hit). A shadow moving from one creature's overlapping shadow to another creature's shadow is normal movement and will not necessarily give the shadow's presence away.
Strength Drain. In addition to the damage caused by their chilling touch, hit successful attack will drain 1 point of Strength from a living creature. If a human reaches 0 Strength or hit points due to a shadow's attack, it will die and will rise immediately as a shadow. Any Strength drained will recover at a rate of 2d4 turns after the creature was touched. Other creatures completely drained of Strength will become comatose.
Touch Attack. (major, 1 segment) A shadow attacks by reaching through any protective coverings and touching a creature. Opponents are considered AC 10 unless they use magic or Dexterity. For example, a fighter wearing +2 chain mail, with a +1 shield, wearing a ring of protection +1 and has a Dexterity of 16 will be AC 4 against a shadow's attack (10 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 2 = 4). If the attack hits, the victim takes 1d4+1 cold damage and suffers 1 point of Strength Drain.
Undead Traits. Undead are immune to the following spells or effects: ageing, charm, command, ESP, fear, hypnotism, paralyzation, poison, scare, sleep, and suggestion. All aligned undead radiate evil that may be detected (the degree of which is normally a function of their hit dice, although there are exceptions).
