Petrifying Gaze. (minor) A medusa can use its gaze as a minor action to petrify any living creature within 30 feet that fails a save vs. Petrify (a save negates). This gaze attack extends into the astral and ethereal planes. Note: If the medusa's gaze is somehow reflected back, the creature will turn itself to stone (it will receive the standard saving throw of course).

Poison. A medusa sports asp-like (snake) growths covering it's head which can attempt to bite a single opponent in melee range once per round (in segment 1 as a natural attack, length 1 ft.). Any creature bitten will take 1d4 damage and must save vs. Poison or die (save Negates).

The body of a medusa appears quite shapely and human. They typically wear human clothing. However, the face is of horrid visage, and its snakey hair writhes, so within 20 feet this gives the creature away. The glaring red-rimmed eyes of a medusa are visible clearly at 30 feet.

Medusae are hateful humanoid creatures which dwell in dark caves or caverns, venturing forth on occasion to seek prey. They try to beguile humans to look into their eyes. The gaze of a medusa's eyes will turn creatures to stone unless they make their saving throw. If an opponent averts his eyes, the medusa may rush up so that its asp-like head growth can bite at the victim.

Medusae speak both their tongue and the common one. Medusae are able to see astral and ethereal creatures, and their petrifying gaze is as effective on those planes as it is on the material.
