The Advocates hold a unique role in the workings of Mercy. They were the heart and soul of those that rescued workers from the Tower, led by 'The Liaison' Taalib Hassann. As new citizens would filter into the town, after they were interviewed by the Sheriff, the Advocates would take over getting them settled in, finding their way and helping them with contributions to the town. Everyone must work in Mercy and rest assured the Advocates would place you or find you if you weren't contributing. Latrine duty was the first punishment! While the Liaison has not vote on the council, they fill a unique role of neutrality, offering sage advice from a perspective that understands the balance of the leadership, the different people of the Towers and the town, as well as contacts out in the Deadscape from all walks of life. The Advocates can even help those accused of crimes or the victims of them, in finding salvation or justice.
The Advocates are for the people of Mercy. They are not supposed to openly hold any specific ties to anyone, rather seeing the town as a collective entity. Whether this is true or not...is up to the Advocate.
