How to Make Loose Powder Eyeshadow
Loose powder is the easiest starting point for DIY makeup.
Mix the Base: Combine 1/4 teaspoon arrowroot powder and 1/4 teaspoon bentonite clay in a small bowl.
Add Colour: Gradually stir in your chosen pigment (starting with 1/8 teaspoon) until you reach the desired intensity.
Finish: Add 2–3 drops of carrier oil (like almond or jojoba) and mash it into the powder with a spoon until the mixture is soft and no longer dusty.
Store: Transfer to a small, airtight container.
How to Make Pressed Eyeshadow
Pressed shadows are less messy and easier to apply with a brush.
Prepare the Mixture: Follow the loose powder steps above.
Wet the Powder: Add a few drops of 91% rubbing alcohol until the mixture has a damp, crumbly, or sand-like consistency.
Press into Pan: Place the mixture into an empty eyeshadow pan.
Compress: Lay a clean paper towel over the pan and press down firmly with a flat object like a coin or a pressing tool for about 30–60 seconds.
Dry: Let it sit uncovered for at least 24 hours to allow the alcohol to evaporate completely.
