How to cite a submitted article, in the press, under review or not published yet
Usually, it should be referenced by writing the author's name with adding "In Press" or 'submitted to the journal' or as having been 'accepted for publication' or 'in press' in place of the journal volume and issue number depending on where it has reached in the publication process. All the other details remain the same.
Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (in press). Title of article in sentence case: First word of subtitle also capitalized. Title of Journal in mixed case and italics. doi:10..xxx/yyyyy
However, it is needed to show the journal that are submitted the article a copy of the acceptance letter in most cases just to demonstrate that it is in press.
