Before Our Reunion

First of all, in the last meeting of the reunion committee, the discussion came up about late registrations and it was decided that there should be enough food for anyone who comes, so even though we have passed the set deadline, you can still register. We have ample amounts of the Cajun Dinners and BBQ to feed the masses.

Next, we also want to emphasize that this is a BYOB happening. We will have bottled water, but if you want any other liquid refreshments such as beer, wine, sodas, or liquor you must bring it yourself. We will ample Solo cups but if you have a favorite beverage holder you are welcome to bring it as well. We have planned to have a lot of ice, but if you are local and have a cooler, it would be nice if you could bring some ice as well.

We have the pavilions for the whole day, so you are welcome to come early. Some members of the committee plan to arrive about 2:00 pm and begin sitting up tables and chairs. If you find yourself just waiting around watching the clock, then we would love to have you come assist the rest of your classmates.

Please be nice and clean up after yourself, since we must clean the pavillions before we leave that night. There will be garbage can throughout the area, and part of our contract says we must do our own clean up.

I also want to remind you there is no set agenda for this reunion. There will be no long speeches or prizes for most grandkids or whoever travelled the longest to get there. We expect the attendees to enjoy just being with their old and new friends throughout the evening. There will be music in one area and a quiet sitting area in another.

Below is a copy of the BBQ order. This is in addition to the 150 -size Cajun menu we have also ordered.

This is a newer count of the number of attendees, but a few more have registered since this chart was constructed.

The Mix-and-Mingle Event

Furniture Factory Bar and Grill

619 Meridian Street, Huntsville, AL 35801

256-539-8001

Plan to join your classmates at the Furniture Factory Bar and Grill on the Friday night before the Saturday reunion. This is a Dutch Treat event and promises to add to your enjoyment on the Reunion weekend. It is not offered as part of the reunion registration but is a stand-alone event. Everyone is responsible for their own food and drinks. The Furniture Factory offers a full drink and dinner menu sure to keep everyone happy! Delicious appetizers like grilled chicken and shrimp are readily available, as well as mouth-watering entrees like steak filets and classic Reuben sandwiches!

Our group plans to show up around 6:00 pm and informally enjoy spending the evening together. This is not a formal event and there will be other customers who are not part of our Lee High group. Look around, you'll find someone you know.

NOTICE: The deadline to register for the rendezvous has passed, but you can still come if something changes in your life and you wish to attend. The registration fee is $50.

Sunday Morning, September 11th, Breakfast Planned

We plan to meet at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Huntsville South, 6000 Memorial Parkway SW, for breakfast on the morning after the reunion. Breakfast Starts at 6:30 in the Bistro as a buffet and hotel Guests have breakfast included, BUT, it is open to all others at $15 each. There is a large seating area and inviting all that would like to join in for a "Goodbye Until Next Time" Wrap-Up seems like a great idea. We've done this almost every reunion in the past but not as a planned activity, so we're making it an Official Tradition!! Time To Meet: TBD (Not 6:30!!)

Faces of Our Past

1990 Reunion of Lee High School Classes 1964-65-66

A Video by Niles Prestage, LHS '65

One of my prized possessions from my Lee High School association is a copy of the VHS video tape Niles Prestage, LHS '65, made during the 25th Reunion get-together which took place in 1990. I am happy that later in my life I converted it to a digital format and was able to upload it to youtube.com. I have shown these video clippings in Lee's Traveller in the past, but now is an appropriate time to once again feature them. Previously they were only shown in five minute clips per week, but since the next reunion is quickly approaching I decided to show them in groups of three (approximately 15 minutes total per week). There are 22 5-minute segments available. Included in these videos are many who are no longer with us, and it is great to once again see their smiling faces and hear their voices.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this coming weekend. It has been a long time in the making and it is about to finally take place. Who would have ever thought we would go through a pandemic in our lives that basically altered the things we do in our everyday lives?

We will be driving down on Friday and will meet up with whoever shows up at the Furniture Factory that night. Hope to see you there.
