November 10, 1947 - December 18, 2013
Eddie O. Sykes, Jr., 66, Bradenton, FL went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2013 under the loving care of his family at Manatee Memorial Hospital. He made it "Home" for Christmas. Mr. Sykes was born on November 10, 1947 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to his parents Edwin O. and Grace Elizabeth Sykes. He was a retired Computer Programmer Manager for FedEx with over 30 years of service. He moved to Bradenton 6 years ago from Lake Mary, FL and prior to that in 2000 had moved from Memphis, TN to Lake Mary. He loved the Natural Beauty of Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 and a half years: Susan Sykes of Bradenton, FL; 2 daughters: Julie Sykes and Jodi Sykes both of Bradenton, FL; a sister: Carolyn Bonomi of Memphis, TN and his beloved Yorkie "Baby" as well as "Scrappy the Cat". A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 12:00PM at Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto, Florida with a Visitation to be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Skyway Memorial Gardens Chapel, Palmetto, FL.

Memphis, TN - I am saddened to hear of the loss of another classmate and know it is especially hard on his family considering this is the time of the year when we all enjoy getting together to celebrate the holidays.
Sue and I are blessed to continue to have good health and were lucky enough to be able to visit all our girls and their families this calendar year, along with some other wonderful places.

I was reading some past issues of the Lee Traveler and saw a list of classmates who served in the armed forces. My name is Brooks Glover Jr. and I served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. Also, I have a brother who graduated in the class of 1966 who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-1969. Thanks for the Traveler. I really enjoy it.

I appreciated your description of the importance and the feelings surrounding attending the senior prom (I believe it was date 4/ 25 and maybe 4/26) was exceptional and brought back some personal memories. The sense of quiet urgency you expressed as the school year wrapped up is a feeling most of us shared - though often unspoken.

Hi Tommy,
Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Time slipped up on me, and I did not get my Christmas cards out yet! They may be Happy New Year’s this time instead. As always, I want to thank you for all of the time and effort that you put into the weekly Traveller. I noticed in last week’s edition that obviously you must have had a comment(s) about the regular contributions for the Traveller. I detected that possibly someone(s) did not enjoy all of the regular contributions as much as most of us do. I think that I speak for many of us by saying that we truly enjoy every week’s edition and thank any and all who are willing to submit articles, pictures, anything! I am sure that you appreciate anything that is sent in, as well. It is a huge commitment on your part to publish the Traveller every single week, and I know that you have continued to work it into your schedule even when you are travelling. Many thanks to you again and to all of the contributors.
Let us all remember to give thanks for our many blessings, and remember the reason for the season, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, remember to thank in your prayers our soldiers and our farmers who are both so important to us and can never be thanked enough for their hard work. There are so many others to remember, but those are just ones that are dear to my heart. Also, remember in your prayers many of our Family-Lee who are facing very difficult health issues right now. And finally, my blessings to all of you for a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless,
