Identifying a person - Asking Questions
The verb "SER" will help you check a person's identity. Listen to the Voki conversation below.
¿Tú eres Daniel? - Are you Daniel?
No. (Yo) soy Francisco. - No. I'm Francisco.
Turning Statements into Yes-No Questions
Let's look at the question from the Voki conversation - Example: ¿Tú eres Daniel? - Are you Daniel? The answer to this question will be either yes or no - Sí , No.
You will see that questions in Spanish can be formed by simply adding two question marks to a statement: "You are Daniel" - Tú eres Daniel.
Use the two question marks (¿ ?) to turn the statement into a yes-no question.
The same applies to the statement Tú conoces a Daniel (You know Daniel). This, too, can be turned into a question: ¿Tú conoces a Daniel? Note that the pronoun is commonly dropped from the question: ¿Conoces a Daniel? ¿Eres Daniel?
