Funding a Program
Funding Sources for LA Programs
Most LA programs are funded through the university departments or by the university itself; however, many institutions, especially those starting a new LA program, will often secure funding through various NSF grants or other outside sources.
Program Growth
K-12 Teacher Preparation
K-12 Teaching Licenses
Many research studies have been conducted questioning the impact LAs have not just on student learning, but beyond, like K-12 teacher recruitment. At CU Boulder, the number of undergraduates in a STEM major issued a teaching license per year doubled since the LA Program exploded in 2006. In addition, K-12 teachers who were former LAs were more likely to use research-based teaching methods in their classroom, as compared to their peers.
