Establishing Leadership

Depending on the size of your LA program, not all of these positions will be necessary and the listed duties will vary from program to program. These roles and responsibilities are given as examples and a starting point for establishing your program's leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities

Program Coordinator

    • oversee all aspects of the program

    • gain support from administration

    • seek funding for the program

    • organize the pedagogy course

    • recruit faculty to participate in the program

    • support and assist faculty participating in the program

    • recruit students to participate in the program

Departmental Coordinator

    • oversee all aspects regarding courses within their department

    • seek funding for the program

    • recruit faculty to participate in the program

    • support and assist faculty participating in the program

    • recruit students to participate in the program

Faculty

    • complete a faculty course proposal to use LAs in their course

    • adapt/transform course to best utilize LAs to increase student achievement

    • recruit students to participate in the program

    • interview and hire LAs for their course

    • schedule LA duties

    • hold weekly content preparation sessions with LAs

Students

    • complete a student application to participate in the program

    • complete duties for the course as assigned by faculty

    • participate in weekly content preparation sessions

    • attend pedagogy course
