Technology Adventure Society

External Description : TAdS is the adventure society of the campus that brings extreme sports closer to the students. They explore Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Hang Gliding, Bungee jumping, and organize adventure trips in the country for students. - M

Internal Description : Founded in the year 2008, with a vision to promote adventurous sports and activities in the young and enthusiastic minds. We are committed to assisting you in achieving your wildest adventures as you build new friendships, challenge your limits, unwind your spirits, and learn about the natural world around you! You do not have to worry about arrangements, technical assistance & equipment; all you need is the strength to face your fears & the will to achieve the aim. 

Selection Format : PI for Core; Task -> PI for Web & Design.

The KGPian Game Theory Society, IIT KGP

External Description : KGTS is dedicated towards spreading awareness, knowledge and application of Game Theory. They are involved in publishing the half-yearly newspaper, "The Strategist" (This info isn't verified as of 2025). - M

Internal Description : The KGPian Game Theory Society (KGTS) is the first student chapter of the Indian Game Theory Society, dedicated to spreading awareness and promoting strategic thinking, while sparking interest in game theory among students. From weekly Game Nights and Knowledge Meets, the members discover the relevance of game theory in real-life and game-based scenarios. We also host several fun events like the Treasure Hunt and Stratathon, drawing enthusiastic participation from across the campus. Freshers should join to explore the fascinating world of decisions, strategy, and competition — all while having fun with like-minded peers.

Selection Format : Task -> Personal Interview. Management Team usually has direct PI.

Warriors

External Description : The martial arts society of IIT KGP. Holds practice and training workshops.

Internal Description : Warriors Martial Arts Club is a student-led initiative to promote overall fitness, impart self-defence knowledge, and instil various qualities such as discipline, hard-work, and respect. However it is not a substitute or an official medium to receive certification in any martial art form.

Chess Club

External Description : Chess Club, IIT Kharagpur creates a lively chess culture on campus with regular tournaments and casual play sessions. It provides a welcoming space where players of all skill levels can learn, compete, and enjoy the game together. - M

Internal Description : We are a relaxed club, built around our shared love of Chess. Typical weeks are talks with seniors, and casual matches with each other.  By being part of us, you get the opportunity to play for KGP in both online & offline tournaments, have sessions to enhance your skills, and of course, interact with other like-minded chess maestros. (Oh, and free premium chess.com accounts from 2nd year onwards!)

Selection Format : Via a freshers tournament (around 20+ people selected).

E-Sports Club

External Description : The campus club for e-sports, they organize many events & competitions for a variety of games, often in collaboration with Shaurya (Sports Fests Socs), and other socs.

Internal Description : Our society organises online as well as offline events : Last year we did 4 online and 2 offline events. Typically, there are weekly meetings where we discuss about our short term and long term goals. Overall it's a very fun experience to host events and play for your club.
[For the freshers (associate members) the society is divided into 3 main sections: core team, design team, tech team. Later on, the sponsorship and videography team will also be made from the best performers. For sophomores (executive head) there are many portfolios such as PR team, design team, sponsorship team, tech team, etc.]
Do note, joining our soc is easy, but staying here is what takes real effort!

Selection Format : Personal Interview -> A task as per your choice (core or design or tech. After evaluating your task, you will be sent the joining mail.

Selection Time : Autumn Sem (likely august).
