Likely, but this isn't confirmed yet (We are trying to get it confirmed officially, as of 10th July 2025).
If possible, we would recommend you to get one more medical certificate in the format given by IITKGP, since that would ensure no issues at all.
That being said, some people did manage with the JoSAA format alone last year, and I don't think the IITKGP admin will be extremely strict in regards to this, but please try to get IITKGP style, until we confirm no issues.
If you're from CBSE, the marksheet you get for your Boards are both a Certificate for passing 12th, and the marksheet. Verify this by checking if the phrase "Certificate cum Marksheet" is written at the top of your document. Feel free to submit both of them.
Other boards often given two different documents -> A certificate & marksheet, which is why IITKGP asks you to submit both,
If Basically the receipt of the Fees paid by you. Typically it will be the full fees, but the JoSAA Seat Acceptance Fees Receipt is also fine.
This hasn't been verified with admin yet (10th July 2025), but given that many people will avail loans after coming to campus, I don't think so it's a requirement for you to have the full fees receipt => Hence why JoSAA Seat Acceptance Fees Receipt is also fine.
Passport photo of you from the last year is fine, even if it is not the one you gave for JEE. Typically 5 is enough (usually 3 is used up in the admission process), but if you want more, you can get them in campus.
If possible, have a couple JEE photos, but wasn't needed last year.
Please bring your Aadhar Card (original). Any other relevant certificates too (See Documents).

I don't think so. Two reasons:
1. Last year, many of my friends only paid the fees after a week after joining college. Only the seat Acceptance fee was paid beforehand.
2. Student loans exist, and those are only taken after college starts. Hence people taking loans don't pay beforehand, so why do you think you have to?
The last date for payment is not confirmed, but as long as you pay within a few weeks, you'll be fine.
Please check out page 2 of IITKGP Payment Instructions Doc for this info. Basically, the following are available:
a. SBI Online Banking: Log on to SBI online banking portal and make payment
b. Other Banks Internet Banking: Log on to respective bank’s site and make payment
c. SBI Debit Card: Pay with your SBI ATM cum debit card
d. Other Banks Debit Cards: Pay with non-SBI bank’s debit card
e. Credit Cards: Pay with any credit card
f. SBI Branch: This is a walk-in facility by which payment can be made in cash/cheque.
Please check out IITKGP Payment Instructions Doc for this info.
For waivers, please check out Fees & Financing page.
For scholarships, you will usually get a mail or an ERP update in regards to available scholarships. These are mostly merit-cum-needs, but there are some purely merit based scholarships. An example (incomplete) list is also present in the Fees & Financing page.
Just to be clear though, your education here is already highly subsidized, that's why merit scholarships are rare. Even if you pay the full unreduced fees, which is about 3L per annum; that's small compared to the 10L+ spent by IITKGP per student per year.
Please check out the Loans subsection of Fees & Financing page.
Main Page : ERP - The College Portal
The official college portal. See ERP - The College Portal page for all the relevant info.
As a fresher, you will have to use this portal to complete your academic profile, and paying your fees, along with subject registration.
Please check out the How do I sign up? section of the ERP page. ONLY DO SO AFTER GETTING A MAIL FROM COLLEGE (mail address ends in iitkgp.ac.in)
No!
You will get an e-mail from the college AFTER you freeze your seat, and pay the seat acceptance fees. It usually (not always) takes a couple days after you do it, for the e-mail to be sent.
In case, it has been more than a week (or 20th July +), and you have yet to receive the mail, please contact the college Admin.
Main Pages : Boy's Hostel | Girl's Hostel
Please check out the Accommodations for family Addendum under What to do before coming here? page.
However, given it's the 17th of July as I write this, it's unlikely for you to get good rooms near campus. Please check for rooms in Midnapore; and worst case, Kolkata.
Welcome to <Boy's Hostel> : For boys
Welcome to <Girl's Hostel> : For girls
This might change, but it's unlikely.
Depends. Parents of the same gender (Girl - Mom, Boy - Dad) are typically allowed to enter and stay in the hostel till Admission date (24th July), but it might vary for you. Parents of opposite gender aren't allowed beyond main gate (unless you're lucky).
If staying, they might get beds in common room; and while not allowed, you can also try and have them in your room if your roomies are fine with it.

For my personal opinion, see Induction Programme subsection of the First Week Timeline page.
Tentatively on 24th July 2025.
Your academic registration, i.e. registering you within the rolls of the college will happen on this day. It will typically involve document verification (See Documents ), and will take about an hour or so. Parents aren't allowed, and last year, it took place in the Vikramshila complex (See Important Locations - Fresher's Guide page).
You will get a mail in regards to this, don't worry. Follow it properly.
Tentatively on 22nd & 23rd July 2025.
You will finish your room allotment process on these days, but you can also finish it on the 24th of July too. For details on the process, please check the following links :
There wasn't anything else on these days last year, but things might change, so do check your mail.
I haven't confirmed this yet, but it will likely be there. Based on previous year trends, it will likely be on 24th or 25th evening.
Nope!
I'd still recommend having them there for a few days : For support, and helping you transition.
As long as you are here within the month of July, you should be fine.
But we don't recommend this at all, because of the high amounts of hassle you will have to go through. If you come after the admission date, much of the process will have to be completed by you running here & there, and will take days instead of hours.
But if you have no choice, please contact your FacAd - Facility Advisior for what you should do. Their name & email will be available under the Student Information Link of Students Menu in ERP. Only visible after you complete ERP Registration.

Please visit the Societies page, and the relevant sections there to find if there's a club for your interest. More than likely, there is, given 50+ societies.

Nope. Ragging is pretty much non-existent here given the extremely strict measures put in place in campus. In case, someone tries to do anything : Please contact the Admin, or a trusted senior (someone you know well), and it will be handled.
Seniors don't bite. In fact we'd like to help you as much as we can (if this website isn't a clue). But that being said, many seniors prefer formality and would prefer not to be treated like how you'd treat a friend, so just be respectful (not Sir or anything).
