Debating Society  🆕

External Description : The Debating Society, IIT Kharagpur, is a full-fledged society under the Technology Students' Gymkhana, IIT Kharagpur, which aims to promote the culture of debating on the campus and provides a platform to bring all the debaters together. - M

Internal Description : Join us for getting in touch with your inner debater. Along the way, improve your public-speaking and critical-thinking skills, among other soft-skills, which will help you stand out as a person.
We debate in the major college formats of Asian Parliamentary & British Parliamentary formats, and have gone to and won multiple Indian & even International competitions. Last but not least, join us for making friends that will last a lifetime.

Technology Comedy Club

External Description : Comedy Club is a society for stand-up and comedy enthusiasts. -M

Internal Description : ComC (Comedy Club)/ TCC provides you a much needed friendly, relaxing, light and artistic environment after the hectic class routines. This society, though young, has experienced an exponential growth in the last 2-3 years that is frankly, remarkable. ComC explores all forms of comedy including stand-up, improv (banter-bout) and sketch; giving you all the opportunities you want for stage presence.

Selection Format : Single round selections, but you can try for multiple formats/teams & the selection style varies based on which format you want.    Stand-up : Write own set & perform for selection | Improv :  Perform with cues on the spot (Improv after all) | Sketch : Develop & submit a script for a given storyline (within stipulated time) | Design : Likely making posters.

Quiz Club

External Description : The Quiz Club conducts branstorming sessions and mock quizzes to promote the quizzing culture in the campus. The club usually meets once a week and conducts quizzes. It is an open soc - no selections. - M&U

Internal Description :The Quiz Club is an open society which brings together quizzing enthusiasts on campus, hosting regular quiz sessions, representing IIT Kharagpur at quizzes in the Kolkata circuit and the Inter IIT SoCult Meet Quizzes and at Nihilanth among other prestigious quizzing competitions. No kind of exclusive membership, except enthusiasm towards quizzing, is required.
(We also host the Fresher Quiz every Autumn semester, which is open to incoming students(both UG and PG) and has cash prizes too.)

Technology Literary Society 🆕

External Description : TLS, one of the oldest societies of the campus, has been an outlet for the literary skills of the Kgp populace. Their notable works include Hang On's, Pulse and Alankar. They also hold the events 'Kavyanjali', 'Kavya Sandhya', and 'Farrago.' - M

Internal Description : Come to enjoy a relaxed society built around the shared love of all things Literature. We host workshops for improving your poetry, writing & even design skills; have casual get-togethers; review & help each other improve the writings; and of course, host major events. These are our main events : 'Kavyanjali' (Hindi Internal Performance), 'Kavya Sandhya' (Hindi Performance), 'Farrago' (English Internal Performance) and 'Open Mic' (Open-to-all). All of these involve you performing your piece, and thus, we also help improve your public speaking skills.

Selection Format : Task/Quiz Round (Writing/Language or Design Skills) -> Personal Interview. There are 3 teams : Design, English, & Hindi.

Communiqué

External Description : Communique aims to be an interface between professional communication experts and individual students and work with the students to ensure that there is a perceptible change in the level of communication skills in the campus. - M

Internal Description : The official soft-skill and personality development society. We organize Internal Events to upgrade the skills of freshers, through various events and workshops like debates, case studies, body-language enhancing, etc. Furthermore, we also have some External Events: Global Model United Nations, Road to Intern, etc. Through these events, one learns about finance, marketing, event-management, etc. and substantially expand his connections. You can join us as a Tech, Design, Videography, Finance & PR, and/or as a core member.

Selection Format : Group Discussion -> Personal Interview. 

Selection Time : Autumn Sem, usually in August for Freshers. End of Summer Vacay for Sophs.

Public Policy and Governance Society (PPGS)

External Description :  Public Policy and Governance Society, IIT Kharagpur is India's largest student-run public policy organization, dedicated to fostering a radical attitude toward policy development and encouraging active participation in the Indian government system among the student community. Through various events and initiatives, PPGS aims to cultivate a sense of responsibility and engagement toward building Bharat. - M

Internal Description : A society with a ton of opportunities. It's not just about UPSC (which is what a lot of people think when they hear about it) - it is excellent for an overall development. It was founded 3 years ago and it's already at the stage where we have 9 chapters (affiliated socs) in diff colleges. Depending on your skills, there's a place for you - Tech, Design, Media, Policy Research, and so many more. If you're interested in conducting events, check out LBC or SANSAD.
