No matter how fun or expansive the campus is, there comes a time when you're bored of it, and it can't satisfy you. Where do you go then?
Note : We aren't saying these places are safe, and we can't promise that for any location outside the campus. The list just contains places visited regularly by students, and I have visited some of these without any issue too. That being said, you're responsible for your safety, and I'd recommend to never go alone, and go with atleast one person who knows good hindi (preferably bengali).
More places will be added on later.
These locations, unless stated otherwise, are tens to hundreds of kilometers away from campus, and any trip as a group of UG students (again, do NOT go alone) will require proper planning, resources, and vehicles.Â
Recommended time for going to these places would be with no rain, and during the day.

In the name itself. Closest location in this list, just a few kilometers from Prem Bazaar gate. It's usually open from 9 to 5, and recommended season is monsoon/autumn.
This is one of, if not the most visited places by students when they want a break in nature. About 100 km (2-3 hrs) south of the campus, it's also big enough to host a variety of activities (for you to find out!). It's a calmer kind of beach, with its gentle rollling waves and soft sands. Best time to visit it would be in the winter months.Â
The location where Rupnarayam River joins with the oh-so-famous Hooghly river, this is the place for serene beauty. Given it's size, activities are rare, and like mentioned, it's more for the scenic views. About 50 KM from campus.
A fair bit away, it's best visited in the winter months. There are some activities you can do there, but I'm not sure what's safe & fun over there, so I'd moreso recommend just to visit a nice river.
Go for its natural beauty, and just exploring fields & such (If you're the kind of person to like just roaming through natural beauty). The perfect place to have a road trip through.

This is not even close to an exhaustive list
This is the serving cinema theatre of the KGP population in general. Most of the movies put here will be either Hindi or Bengali, but with enough demand, your cultural association can also request shows of your regional movies (Tamil, Telugu, etc.) for a day/week.Â
It's about 15 mins by toto, and cost is about 250 RS.
A Shiva Mandir, Jagnath Temple, Shiva Kali Temple are all just outside KGP, spread across its boundary. Many people go here during festivals & such, and if you wanna go as a group, check with students from the same state.
There are also other temples located in KGP & nearby areas.
Mosques are a bit further away, but still coming to about 15 mins by Toto. There's one south of the campus, Kulchati Jama Masjid; but the largest nearby one is Kharagpur Jama Masjid.
There are a bunch of churches for the different denominations, for example: the nearest ones are a Lutherean & Pentecostal Church. The nearest Catholic church is about 10 mins by Toto. There are many more churches within a few minutes of campus, and feel free to google them.
There's also a nearby Jain mandir - Shree Digamber Jain Terapanthi Mandir, and comes to about 4km or 10-15 minutes by Toto.Â

If a religious place of worship wasn't mentioned here, it doesn't mean it's not here : Just that I didn't know about it since this is just a list of places I know were visited by my religious friends (Please inform to update ASAP). Midnapore has places of worship for most religions too.
Open & delivering till 12AM, this is a lifesaver if you forgot to buy a cake for your friend's birthday. They also have donuts, pizza, and other baked goods. About a couple mins from Main (Puri) Gate.
One of the more iconic shops, it has good indian food, and a friend of mine praises its slushies. About a couple mins from Main (Puri) Gate.
Opposite to Candy Cake Shop, it's one of the very few vegetarian restaurants nearby. Again, the same friend praises its aloo & paneer paratha.
Learn about it later!

This is not even close to an exhaustive list, and I could prolly go on listing a dozen dozen (AKA gross - 144) more restaurants. I haven't really tried any of these either, so take my word with a grain of salt.
Theres this city called kolkata about 3 hours away, did you know?!
