After completing this course of Intercultural Workshop, I have learned a lot about how being a translator is not only the work of translating a language into another, but also "translating" context and culture.
I specially loved the project about regional diversity, which I opted for Guangdong, which is my family's hometown in China. It was nice to remember what I already knew and see a little bit more of Chinese culture.
I also liked the project of doing a transcript of a TED Talk about multiculturalism. I learned how we are subject to see other cultures foreing to us by their stereotypes, but we should be more open-minded and get the context of how others live.
Después de realizar este curso de Taller Intercultural, he aprendido mucho sobre cómo ser traductor no es solo el trabajo de traducir un idioma a otro, sino también "traducir" el contexto y la cultura.
Me encantó especialmente el proyecto sobre diversidad regional, por lo que opté por Guangdong, que es la ciudad natal de mi familia en China. Fue agradable recordar lo que ya sabía y ver un poco más de la cultura china.
También me gustó el proyecto de hacer una transcripción de una charla TED sobre multiculturalismo. Aprendí cómo estamos sujetos a ver otras culturas extrañas a nosotros por sus estereotipos, pero debemos tener una mente más abierta y entender el contexto de cómo viven los demás.
