Stewart Nattriss

Stewart Nattriss was born in Barkstone Ash on August 29, 1947, the son of a Penistone, Yorkshire farmer.

He began his racing career as an amateur but soon turned professional and rode his first winner on Bishop Burton, trained by Cliff Boothman, in a Southwell selling hurdle on October 9, 1967.

His rode for Barnsley trainer Steve Norton and enjoyed his best season in 1969/70 when he rode 12 winners, including four on Joe Mulhall’s selling chaser Beautola.

Stewart went on to ride a total of 45 winners before retiring during the 1974/75 campaign. His last winner over fences was Silkstone, trained by Steve Norton, in the Cottesmore Novices Chase at Leicester on 14 January 1975. His last over hurdles was Pingo on December 19, 1974, also for Steve Norton.
