John Nightingall

Former trainer and jockey John Nightingall died at his house in Burgh Heath Road, Epsom, on November 9, 1960. He was 78. 

John was apprenticed to George Challoner at Newmarket and rode on the Flat and over jumps. He achieved his greatest success in the 1905 Grand International Hurdle on Lucinda, trained by William Nightingall. He twice finished second in the Lancashire Chase, on First Champion in 1909 and Bedgrove in 1910. 

He was Walter Nightingall’s uncle.
