Vince Kelly

National Hunt jockey Vincent Joseph Kelly held a licence between 1961 and 1966 and rode four winners during that time. The first of those was gained on selling chaser Balkan Catch at Worcester on March 12, 1962 for local permit holder Chris Wilesmith.

He also finished second twice and third once from 27 rides that season.

He rode two winners, two seconds and a third from 17 mounts the following season, both wins coming on Wilesmith’s two-mile chaser Rock House Bridge, with back to back victories at Bangor in April followed by the Ingestre Challenge Cup Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter in May.

After enduring a blank 1963/64 campaign, Vince rode what proved to be his last winner on White Panther in the Kidderminster Selling Hurdle at Worcester on Wednesday, April 14, 1965. He carried on for one more season before hanging up his boots.

Vince Kelly’s winners were:

1. Balkan Catch, Worcester, March 12, 1962

2. Rock House Bridge, Bangor-on-Dee, April 20, 1963

3. Rock House Bridge, Uttoxeter, May 2, 1963

4. White Panther, Worcester, April 14, 1965
