Mark Ker

Mark was born in 1864 and had the wonderful record as a Flat jockey of riding over 100 winners from fewer than 300 mounts.

His service record was equally impressive.

He entered the navy in 1877 and served in Egypt in 1882 and in the Sudan in 1891. He took his pilot's certificate in July 1914.

Vice-Admiral Mark Ker was one of the chief advocates of bombing the enemy's factories & aerodromes.

He excelled at most sports, including polo, shooting, hunting, fishing & yachting.
