Summer Lake Sandhills

In early spring Sandhill Cranes migrate through Eastern Oregon. Large numbers will stop to feed and rest before heading north. Several pairs also remain to nest in this area. This quilt features Summer Lake in the foreground which was created with purchased fabrics, thread painted bushes and grasses, and silk organzas. The background is called Winter Rim and was painted with inks, paints, and puff paints. The birds were constructed one feather at a time.
