Golden

Golden was inspired by several river canyons in Oregon that start high in the mountains and run down to the coast.  Several years ago I visited the Blue Mountain Bird Rehab in Pendleton Oregon and took pictures of a beautiful Golden Eagle which was perfect to add to this quilt.  Tiny pieces of fabrics which were shaded and highlighted with paints and inks were cut out, fused and stitched.  The different types of rock formations and individual rocks were constructed by overpainting fabrics.  They were highlighted and shaded with inks and texture was added with scrunched rayons and heat distressed paint.  The trees were thread painted and the sky and water were created with a collage of fabrics.  Extensive machine quilting defined the rock formations and many colors of threads blended with the colors of the quilt...
