Abdul Ali's life took a tumultuous turn when his father, a police officer, was tragically killed by the Taliban. Recognizing that he was their next target, Abdul Ali fled Afghanistan, embarking on a perilous journey to Indonesia in 2014, where he has been living since. Abdul Ali's love story with Shamsia, an aspiring beautician and tailor, is a testament to their shared dreams of freedom. Now, he seeks the help of five Canadian friends to provide a haven in Canada, where they can build a safe and promising future together.

Early Life

Abdul Ali was born in January 1992, in Uruzgan Khas district in Uruzgan province in Afghanistan. He used to work as a farmer to help his father support his family. His father was a member of Police Force in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, On June 12, 2012, his father got killed by the Taliban near the marketplace of Uruzgan Khas.

“The challenges of my life started to increase after my father was gone.”

Attacked

Later on, the Taliban found out about Abdul Ali that he was son of his father who had worked for the government. On September 25, 2014, the Taliban attacked his home. Fortunately, Abdul Ali was not home at that time. When Abdul Ali learned about the Taliban’s attack on his home, he fled to Kabul. Knowing that he would be captured and killed by the Taliban if he stayed in the country, he decided to leave his country immediately. After sharing his story with the hotel owner where he was staying, the hotel owner helped him arrange for a people smuggler.

The Way

On September 30, 2014, he flew to New Delhi, India. From there, he went to Malaysia by plane and then on to Pekanbaru, Indonesia by boat on October 2, 2014.

Life in Limbo

After arriving in Jakarta, he registered himself with the UNHCR on October 08, 2014. With no right to work or way to support himself in Indonesia, he went to Pekanbaru Immigration Centre to ask for assistance.

On October 16, 2014, he was transferred to a detention centre in Manado. While living there, he spent his time learning the English language. After about 4 years, he was freed and transferred to a community house in Makassar on November 15, 2018. Since then, he has been living there.

His Love Story

On April 05, 2019, Abdul Ali engaged to a Hazara girl named Shamsia who has been living in Herat Afghanistan. Shamsia is an experienced beautician and tailor. She dreams to live in a country where she can have freedom and improve her skills.

Since August 2021 when the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Abdul Ali has been very worried for his fiancé who is in danger in Afghanistan. He hopes to find a group of five Canadian friends who can bring him and his fiancé Shamsia to Canada. He says:

“I have a dream now which is to be reunited with Shamsia in Canada, and live a life with freedom and happiness.”

It is Possible!
