We did a tour through the Marakele park before heading for Polokwane via Vaalwater (back roads again or as Lynne calls it, “The Path of Most Resistance”). We need to visit Marakele again in the future as it is not too far from Pretoria (our home) as it really is a beautiful park. They have excellent luxury tented camps and a 4x4 trail. The camp sites are also great and wild animals have free roaming rights to the camp site.
We had coffee and bought excellent droë wors and biltong at a shop on the eastern side of Vaalwater. The road between Vaalwater and Nylstroom was under repair so there were many detours along the route.
As George must be serviced again on Monday morning and we need to be at the garage by 07h15 to be first in the service queue, we booked into the Cycad Bed & Breakfast to avoid having to get up extra early on Monday. We stayed Cycad B&B about 7 years ago.
We walked across the road to the Pietersberg Club (members only), walked into bar and ordered a beer and updated the blog. While we are not members, our wonderful personalities allowed us in. On our way in Philip noticed a modified Volkswagen Beetle. Once in the bar, Philip met a local called Lionel who owned the Beetle and the two of them discussed the modifications.
