Once again, it has been a very quiet and peaceful two days as we have had no cell phone or internet connection up in the Baviaanskloof.
We were all up very early this morning and after a quick breakfast, started packing up. It was sad parting ways with Stephen and Charlene as we had a great two days at Uitspan with them.
We headed to The Wilderness along the Garden Route. We went via the Outeniqua pass. There is a view point on the pass called “4 Pass View”. I could only count 3 passes (see attached photo). As all the SAN (South African National) Parks camping facilities were fully booked, we headed off to Knysna.
Our first stop to determine a worthy camp site was the very rustic – their term was “organic” - facilities at the Peace of Eden. Lynne was not comfortable with the rustic facilities. She went to check out the ablution facilities to discover a “long-drop / pit” toilet which, when she opened the door, she nearly got carried away by the smell – to say NOTHING about the cloud of flies which rose to meet her! Horrible!! The owner was not impressed as Lynne got rather “verbal” about this. We carried on to Knysna where we booked into the Woodbourne Resort and setup camp.
The weather forecast provides a 30 to 50% chance of rain. With hardly a cloud in the sky at the moment, it is a toss-up as to whether we will put up the awning to provide extra protection, or not. Time will tell….
Philip eventually conceded and put up the awning – rather safe than sorry.
