We left early once again and were disappointed by the lack of wild-life. Maybe Thursday is their religious holiday.

As we got closer to Mata Mata Camp Site we did see giraffe and a large male lion who was camping out next to a giraffe that he and two others had killed about 10 days ago. The other two lions were lying around near the water hole. There were vultures and jackal hanging around just waiting to steal an opportunity to feed off the carcass. Very little was left of the carcass except for the large rib cage which was still covered in skin, the leg bones and part of the neck and head. Small birds were entering the skeleton cave and feasting while the lion lay about 10 metres away under a tree, on its back, snoozing – What a life!
We spent the afternoon sitting under the tree at our campsite eating fresh fruit and reading. Every now and again Philip would go for a dip in the pool. Even Lynne went for a dip (which just goes to show that wonders will never cease!).
Later in the evening we took a drive to see if we could find any cheetah. Guess what, we saw 3 relaxing under a tree.
