Our destination for today is Springbok, 302km to go. The 47km drive through the Richtersveld to the Helskloof Gate took 3 hours. Driving through river beds and over mountain passes needed low range most of the time and VERY slow driving. It was great to see some flowers in such a barren place. The mountain scenery reminded us of Hatta (UAE) & Oman.
We took the back road (gravel roads) to Springbok. We reached the tar road with only 120km to go at which point we decided to head back to Port Nolloth to have our Crayfish dinner - only 20km detour. We stayed at the Scotia Inn in Port Nolloth which had a nice view of the ocean. We keep missing out on sleeping over in Springbok.
We had dinner at MAR-E-SOL where Brian, the owner, was a terrific host. Not only was the Crayfish absolutely delicious, but the Tipsy Tart for desert was out of this world! (Lynne almost needed a bib and one look at her had our host scampering for more serviettes!) It was well worth the (slight) detour for this divine dinner!!
