- The application SeeSaw will serve as the classroom space for our virtual learning.
- In the SeeSaw app, students will be able to create a digital portfolio of work for the teacher to review. Below are additional details about how Discovery will use SeeSaw:
- Every parent, child and teacher will have an account.
- All tasks and assignments will be posted on SeeSaw.
- Students/parents can log in, see their work and submit assignments independently.
- Teachers, students and parents can communicate in real time.
- Features like voice notes, student photos and teacher comments will keep inspiring children to work.
- Students will be able to share the steps of their learning with their friends and at times be able to comment on each other's work.
- SeeSaw will bring in aspects of our usual classroom community.
- Discovery Online will continue to promote standards' mastery in the grade level curriculum.
- Learning will continue to be differentiated and tailored to individual student needs.
- Our international curriculum standards provide the foundation for our daily learning plans. These rigorous standards are what determine September readiness.

- Project Based Learning
- In order to delve deep into our core standards, each student will deeply explore inter-disciplinary projects.
- An inquiry based approach to education: Inquiry-based learning emphasises the child's role in the learning process and asks them to engage with an idea or topic in an active way, rather than by sitting and listening to a teacher or an adult
- Projects in the Primary Section (ages 5+)
- This will be a long-term project that gives meaning to writing and reading activities.
- Our Science and Global Perspectives curriculum will be covered through Project Based Learning.
- Projects give students choice and will increase student motivation for learning.
- Projects introduce students to inquiry and investigative learning.
- Teachers will introduce children to the beginning aspects of research, helping them to develop deep interests and intellectual curiosity around academic subjects.
- Projects in the early years - leveraging children's interests
- Parents will select a topic or theme that they will deeply explore for as long as the child is interested
- The project or theme can just about anything child friendly, for example, trains, robots, pets or places to visit or story characters
- Parents and teachers will use the this topic to expand language as well as creative and investigative thinking in a playful way.
- Children learn best if they drive the learning in a depth that is playful
- Focus on quality of thinking, not quantity of activities
- Instruct and give both positive feedback and also real feedback on success skills/competences.
- The adult is a guide on the side not a sage on the stage. The adult's role is to stimulate children's interests, as questions interests but leave space for ambiguity in their learning journey. This will give the child the space to develop their own love for learning and a depth in their investigations.
