additions to our learNing spaces

The environment is a teacher,

when we can read its many layers as children do, we can use it as an ally.

The Discovery Team has been working hard to make some amazing improvements to our outdoor spaces

In addition to upgrades to our playground, we have invested in sunshades and additional furniture to create new outdoor learning areas, scroll down to see more!

a new slide

We now have a new play area with slides and mechanical play zones for the children to enjoy.

Language is at the heart of Discovery learning and quality interactions with peers naturally occur when playing together.

DIscovery BASKETBALL !

We now have a basketball court for the primary students to enjoy.

They are thrilled to have such a large area to run around in! Not to mention that team games are amazing for school spirit whilst keeping you fit.

Having space for older children to run around properly ensures that beyond academics the children are physically and emotionally healthy.

If you are a parent passionate about Basketball, please contact your child's teacher to join the effort to develop basketball talent at Discovery!

and for the toddlers

We have a new smaller size playhouse with climbing and moveable parts to stimulate their imaginations and keep them moving.

We've already seen them using the window and foldable table to play "shop-keepers" with friends outside.

We've also added a fabulous train tunnel to improve gross motor skills.

Having solid core strength is vital for developing a strong pencil-grip later.

multipurpose sand-pitch

In the primary playground,  we have also added a huge sand area.

The soft surface makes it much more suitable for football and other sports.

They are loving being creative and playing with the sand! The shaded zone has made it possible for explorative outside lessons here too.

Watch this space as we have artificial turf coming soon to make football play even better!

OUTdoor small group  spaces

Splitting classes into small groups for focused teacher-led work is an essential part of effective learning.

A change of environment has been shown to increase engagement and improve memory.

This is why whiteboards and sunshades have been added in our outdoor areas to make lessons that extra bit more Discovery.

The Early Years outdoor learning space is only for the younger classes.

We now put some furniture outside and allow children to do small group work outside their classes!

The early year outdoor learning space has a  water play area and an art table, usually, you will also find a play kitchen. These new elements have been so popular with the children and they enjoy the change of routine and varied use of space.

Snack time is also way more interesting when every day is a picnic!
