To help your child settle in quickly and confidently, we’ve prepared this simple checklist of what every student needs for Day 1 and beyond. Please read carefully and keep it handy, it will make the first days stress-free for both you and your child.
Dress code:
Outfits: comfortable tops/tshirts and shorts/skirts/trousers.
Skirts and shorts must be knee-length or longer
Girls must always wear biker shorts or leggings under skirts.
Avoid tight clothes and outfits that are prone to quick damage
Shoes
Children should come in comfortable shoes that allow them to play outside and walk safely
Every child must also have soft indoor shoes/house slippers, these will stay in class for the rest of the term
Outdoor shoes are not allowed in classrooms (helps maintain floor hygiene).
Belongings: All items belonging to your child must be consistently and clearly labelled with a permanent marker all year long.
The Blue Discovery T-shirt
Every Discovery student must own at least one blue Discovery t-shirt for special days.
We will share an order form during the first month of school.
Food & Snacks:
Every child must bring a daily morning snack and drink (the snack must include a fruit).
No peanuts/groundnuts – Discovery is a peanut-free facility. Please check labels carefully.
Avoid salty or sugary snacks.

Water: A labelled water bottle is required every day (in addition to a morning drink).
Clothing: Pack a spare set of clothes & a sweater in your child’s bag daily.
Wet-wipes: Every child aged 6 and below must carry a pack of wet-wipes to school at the start of each term.
Sun Protection: If needed, bring labelled sunscreen and a sun hat.
Attire Reminder: School clothing should allow play and exploration – avoid expensive clothing, jewellery, or delicate items.
Stationery & Books: The school provides all stationery and academic resources – no need to buy notebooks, pens, or textbooks.
Arrival & Departure: When in the drive-through, parents must not leave their cars! If a parent would like to walk in or talk to someone, we strongly request that you arrive 30 minutes after designated times when traffic has cleared!
Indoor Shoes / Comfy Crocs – little feet deserve comfort!
Nap Time Supplies (labelled):
1 light sheet
1 light blanket
Spare clothes (just in case)
Weekly Bedding Routine: For full-day students, bring bedding every Monday, take home every Friday for washing.
Daily Pack List: Snack, drink, sweater, spare clothes – travel light on Day One!
Toileting / Diapers: Please confirm with your child’s teacher. If your child is not yet fully toilet-trained, make sure you provide diapers/wipes.
If your child is still has toilet accidents, please pack adequate pieces for frequent changes at school.
Settling-in: First week may have shorter hours for very young children to ease transition.
Daily Pack List: Snack, water bottle, sweater/raincoat, spare clothes (for younger primary).
Homework: Starts gradually – details will be shared by homeroom teacher.
Clubs & Sports: Clubs and after-school activities will be introduced in the first weeks; registration details to follow.
House Uniform: All students aged 6 and above will need sports kit/house uniform - more details will follow soon.

Baseline Assessments: Expect diagnostic tests during the first weeks.
Clubs & Sports: Sign-up process for sports, arts, and other clubs will be shared in Week 1.
Culture Expectations: Middle School emphasises independence, leadership, and responsibility. Teachers will set clear routines and expectations from the first day.
Half Days (Wednesdays and Fridays, until clubs resume in the second week of school)
• 12:30 pm – Early Years half-day students (all week)
• 1:00 pm – Students aged 6–11 years and their younger siblings
• 1:30 pm – Year 6, 6e, Year 7, 8, 9 and CM2, plus younger siblings
• 1:45 pm – Dismissal closes; late pick-up fines apply
Full Days (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, before new After-School Clubs start)
• 3:30 pm – Early Years and siblings
• 3:45 pm – Students aged 6+ years with no younger siblings aged 2 - 6 years
• 4:00 pm – Year 6, 6e, Year 7, 8, 9, both CM2s, and their siblings
• 4:20 pm – Dismissal closes; late pick-up fines apply
Extended Full Days (Effective from Monday, 8th September)
• 4:30 pm – Year 7, 8, 9, and 6e (Middle School dismissal)
• 3:30 pm – All other students (CM2 and below, Year 6 and below, including Early Years)
