Thank you for attending the primary section parent meeting.
Our school leadership team had fruitful discussions with parents and there was a lot of insight that will inform the next academic year and the future of Discovery.
If you missed our Primary Section meetings, please click here for the presentation overview.
Please contact Ms. Irene Connelly at 0784132762 or connelly@discoveryrwanda.org to schedule a meeting if you are in one of the following two categories as a primary parent:
If you have any questions about our primary sections or end-of-primary assessments.
If you are in the francophone or English section and you are considering switching your child to another language during their Primary years. We need to plan ahead with you to map out the best path for your child.
Parents of 2 to 4-year-olds at Discovery are invited to virtual parent meetings on the following days:
Wednesday 9th June 5:30 pm on Zoom (Meeting in English)
Friday 11th June 5:30 pm on Zoom (Meeting in French)
Thursday, June 10th will be a re-take day for any students who missed their official school photos.
Some students will be required to take a second set of photos; only the parents concerned will be contacted.
Due to COVID19 interruptions that affected the last 2 academic years, we will continue curriculum coverage for some students during the holidays. This will be offered alongside a Robotics themed Summer Camp. Your class teacher will discuss the right options for your child and whether they need to catch up on their math, reading, or spoken language fluency during the holidays.
We will also be offering an Art and Robotics Camp option. As usual, we will offer dance, karate, and ballet to all students.
More details will follow soon and the camp will cover 4 weeks of the 9 week holiday ( July 12th to August 6th).
Many parents have been requesting this addition to our education offerings. Effective September 2021, we will be introducing an additional language as an option to full-day students aged 2 to 4 years.
This means that twice a week, parents will have the option of their (full-day) child starting a second language at school (English or French).
If you are ooking for a fully bilingual approach, where the child has one language in the morning and another in the afternoon, you are requested to book a parent meeting to discuss the best path towards bilingualism for each individual child. Please contact Ms. Irene Connelly on 0784132762 or connelly@discoveryrwanda.org to schedule a meeting.
Primary students (5 years and above) arrive at 7.30 a.m. to be on time for their Morning Accelerator.
Early Years students (4 years and below) should arrive by 8 a.m. (siblings of primary students will arrive earlier as per usual).
We now hold a Morning Accelerator for 30-60 minutes every morning. This is one of the times when teachers personalise learning and work with your children to close their learning gaps, do revision and enrich their learning!
We are emphasising the Morning Accelerator as a crucial period of learning for all children.
Please keep in mind that all Discovery children are required to be in school on time for Morning Accelerator this term, especially as we close out the academic year.
Thank you for organising your arrival routine to ensure your children arrive as promptly as possible each morning.
