  • How do I get good video footage for a movie project?

  • What is Cinematography? What are all the ways I can position or move a camera and frame a scene?

What am I making?

  • At least 8 short video clips, related to a movie concept, uploaded into a video editor

  • A web page (example) on your Google Site titled "Video Production" with a screenshot of your clips

  • In the next lesson, you will take your clips and edit them to make a movie about your subject

How do I make it?

  1. Safety first! Always practice safe videography - survival and health of all involved are paramount.

Steps

  1. Think of a theme or subject for your movie. It could start with an object. Or be based on a person you know (who has your consent / permission).

  2. Get a variety of shots (8+) about your subject - more than you need - with good framing, stability, focus, lighting, audio

    • "B-Roll" is important -- get extra clips from around the scene. They can enrich your story.

  3. Watch your clips. Delete ones you don't want. But you need at least 8 different ones. (Re-shoot if you need to)

  4. Upload your clips to a video editor

  5. When all your clips are loaded, take a screenshot of all of them, or multiple screenshots, so you get a view of the picture frame of each clip.

  6. Make a new Google Site page called "Video Production"

  7. Add the screenshot or screenshots showing the shot frames for at least 8 clips.

  8. Write about what you learned about video production from this assignment...

    • About Cinematography - types of shots - camera positions, angles, moves

    • About Video Production - techniques, getting footage, camera features

  9. Publish, click the chain-link icon, get the Link to your page, Copy that link, turn that in in Google Classroom
