What am I making?

  • A Squarespace portfolio (example site, password is cat) showcasing images and videos you created in DMA class in Quarters 1 & 2

How do I make it?

  • Squarespace Portfolio Video Tutorial on YouTube

    1. Get Started, Sign Up, Log in with student Google email account,

    2. Select a template,

    3. Edit the home page,

    4. Replace the existing images with yours,

    5. Duplicate the home page,

    6. Title it, bring it into the "published" section, add more of my images

    7. Do as many themed pages as you like featuring your content

    8. And also, Edit the Header, customize social media link there (Instagram),

    9. Edit the Footer, customize social media links there (email, Instagram)

    10. Finally, get the link of the published Home Page and turn that in!

      • Go to Settings

      • Click Site Availability

      • Make it Password Protected (password cat) and push Save

      • click on the upper right arrow (in the upper right part of the screen)

      • Copy the address you see at the top of the window, turn that in Google Classroom (skip Google Site)

  • Principles of Design & Typography apply to your blog posts and sites

Steps

  1. Choose images and videos you created for Quarters 1 & 2 in DMA. You can also select artwork created outside of class.

  2. Follow the steps above for How do I make it with the Squarespace Portfolio Video Tutorial on YouTube.

  3. Copy the link for your Squarespace home page, and turn that in for your Google Classroom assignment!

Grading

  • 4/A = Do all the instructions and show three or more pages with 2 or more images or videos each, each page having a theme.

  • 3/B = Do all the instructions and show two pages with 2 or more images or videos, each page having a theme.

  • 2/C = Do all the instructions and show one page with 2 or more images or videos on your portfolio.

Career Connections

  • Presenting your work and showing understanding of it is good for getting jobs, contracts, and reflecting on your own art.
