Consecutive translation is a method where an interpreter listens to a speaker deliver a segment of speech in one language, then pauses to interpret and convey the message in a different language, repeating this process for each segment. Unlike simultaneous interpretation, which is real-time, consecutive interpreting requires the speaker and interpreter to take turns, making it suitable for smaller, more intimate settings or one-on-one conversations, such as interviews or negotiations.

La traducción consecutiva es un método en el que un intérprete escucha a un orador entregar un segmento de discurso en un idioma, luego hace una pausa para interpretar y transmitir el mensaje en un idioma diferente, repitiendo este proceso para cada segmento. A diferencia de la interpretación simultánea, que es en tiempo real, la interpretación consecutiva requiere que el orador y el intérprete se turnen, lo que la hace adecuada para entornos más pequeños e íntimos o conversaciones uno a uno, como entrevistas o negociaciones.

If I'm being honest, I was excited at first because it was something new. However, as time passed, I realized that interpretation is very difficult for me. Although most of the excitement from the beginning has faded and I'll possibly not indulge in this area in a professional way, I can't ignore the fact that both my listening and retention skills have improved a little bit and will continue to do so overtime.

Si les soy honesta, al principio estaba emocionada porque era algo nuevo. Sin embargo, a medida que pasaba el tiempo, me di cuenta de que la interpretación es muy difícil para mí. Aunque la mayor parte de la emoción del principio se ha desvanecido y posiblemente no me dedique a esta área de manera profesional, no puedo ignorar el hecho de que tanto mis habilidades de escucha como de retención han mejorado un poco y seguirán haciéndolo con el tiempo.
