On the first day, the DIPS students had the opportunity to explore a local area in Bangkok (Tha Din Daeng Market), where they saw the daily lives of people in that location and explored a lot of street food. They started to know about the community and pop culture in Din Daeng Market, which helped the students know more about their present trends. The students engaged in research activities that focused on the local neighborhoods of Tha Din Daeng Market and Chareon Rat Road in Bangkok. Through this research, students were able to improve their research skills and gain a deeper understanding of the context and factors that influence design research.
On the third day of their workshop, the students began by identifying their purpose and goal of wanting to showcase the local community to both foreigners and people visiting from other areas. Through research and engagement with members of the community, they gained an understanding of the unique features and culture of Tha Din Daeng Market and Chareon Rat Road. This knowledge helped the students to generate concepts and ideas for showcasing the community to both foreigners and visitors. As a group, they then used brainstorming techniques to further develop these concepts and explore how they could be implemented to attract and educate both foreigners and visitors about the community. They also visited Ratchaburi and got to learn about the province’s culture and trends. They also got to learn about different products and how they were made by local people like leather products, local cuisine, and traditional and non-traditional clothes. With this knowledge, they were able to dig a little deeper into Thai culture to be able to create a product that would represent the country’s trends and culture.
