To learn is to do~! DIPS first-year students are getting ready to get into the company, so they started having workshops with the companies and so first stop, JJD. The workshop consists of three phases where the students learn about the company and the design process and acquire soft and hard skills.
First, they were split up into three groups with different topics on which product they are going to design. Each group did their own research and come up with different directions and concepts. They proceeded to learning to create a mood board to help them present their ideas to the team and to the lecturers. After that they were also taught about fundamental sketching and modeling wherein, they learn how to sketch elements such as simple lines, box or circle and playing with perspective. They also learned how to use design tools for creating a simple model such as cube. Finally, they presented their overall work to the whole class at the last day of workshop where they were given feedbacks not only by the teachers but also their seniors and peers.
So overall, this workshop is not only to help them learn more about how to design but to help them find their interest in what type of design they want to do in the future. At the same time, it helps them understand the process of how it is actually to work in a professional environment.
We hope that these students will continue to learn and flourish, see you in the next workshop~!
