DIPS students have venture out to gain more knowledge for their Habits and Deesawat workshop. Last July 23rd, the students have gathered together to check out the Deesawat showroom, not only to learn more about Deesawat but also get more ideas for their designs. They roamed around the showroom to learn about how the products were manufactured, what materials were used and how the designs were made. While they were roaming around, they were told about the idea behind the designs and what interactive design really is. DIPS students were fascinated to see creative designs ranging from wall accessories, wood tiles, and most especially furniture. It was not basic designs that only focus on solving the problems of the users, but the designs were about changing the normal interaction between a certain user and the furniture.
Students are now enlightened to what they have to do and got more ideas for their own designs as they were given the opportunity to present their ideas so far and was given feedback from both studios at the showroom. DIPS students have also expressed that in what they saw, heard, and learn from the Deesawat showroom has given them more learnings and knowledge that they could use as future designers. The professor has given them some values to think in order for them to improve not only their designs but also their future projects. “Designing something doesn’t mean it’s all aesthetics but it is also about breaking the ordinary normal interaction you get from the product may it be furniture, gadget or even application.” Now that they have discovered this, they are ready to go and design their best designs for the workshop.
