DIPS students have started their internships with their respective companies, one of which is 4Digit. It is a small company that focuses on creating UX/UI designs producing websites and applications fitted for their clients and customers. For DIPS students, they were given a chance to learn from 4Digit by working with the seniors and staff on site.
In the first week of interning, the students were introduced to the company and what they need to work on. Instead of working on previous projects, they started with creating user journey maps and learning more about the websites the company has made. Aside from that, they were provided with an online course to help the DIPS students understand more about the UX/UI design the company focuses on. Similar to other interns, they are also guided by their seniors in studying the previous projects of the company. Each one has a different senior assigned to work with every day to make sure that the students understand the work and company.
Moreover, since the company is not a big company they only have around 10 people in the office and others are working online. Some skills that the students learn in 4Digit are being able to understand every role that’s been given to them, pitching ideas, managing data, researching user experience, and also interaction which is important to their design work. The students think that it is deeper and serious learning that prepares them to work in the field. The students work on-site and have to report to the office from 10 am to 5 pm. The designated students are delighted with working in 4Digit as they are working in a good company with friendly staff, a relaxed and quiet environment, and not-so-strict management. Overall, they work individually to be able to generate more ideas for the big group.
