Public Events
BMC excels in hosting a vibrant and continuous calendar of educational events on campus that are explicitly open to, and often tailored for, the general public. The overwhelming majority of these events are offered free of charge, removing financial barriers to participation.
Free Events: The college’s event portfolio is rich with public awareness campaigns and educational forums that address critical health, social, and cultural issues. The Weekly News Magazine and Social Responsibility Reports from the 2024-2025 academic year are replete with examples:
Breast Cancer Awareness Day: This was a landmark, multi-program event organized on Oct 29, 2024, and involving General Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Physical Therapy programs. It featured expert panels, free screening services in collaboration with Andalusia Hospital, and interactive booths, educating the campus and local community on risk factors, early detection, and survivor support.
World Mental Health Forum: Organized by the Research Unit and Student Welfare Unit on Oct 15, 2024, this was a significant public event. It featured renowned experts, exhibitions from national mental health institutions (Qaweem Center, National Center for Mental Health Promotion), and free self-assessment tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7), demystifying mental health for students and the public.
Women Health Empowerment Event (Nov 19, 2024): This comprehensive event featured six themed booths covering informed consent, influential women in healthcare, safe spaces for discussion, puberty, adolescents, and pregnancy. It provided a safe, educational platform for female students and community members to engage with vital health topics, with 103 students and 11 academic staff participating.
Saudi Founding Day & National Day Celebrations: These large-scale cultural events, open to all, showcased the Kingdom's heritage through regional booths, traditional performances, food, and art. They served as powerful tools for fostering national identity, cultural pride, and community cohesion.
Founding Day Planting Initiative: Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. This initiative focused on promoting environmental sustainability by planting 1,139 sprouts. The event provided participants with hands-on experience in environmental preservation, thus combining learning with action.
Social Responsibility Forum (January 28, 2025): This was a landmark public event, gathering over 30 organizations from the public, private, and non-profit sectors. It served as a platform for "thought leaders" to discuss "sustainable development and social investment," specifically in health and education. This brought high-level, strategic discussions on national priorities directly to the community.
International Volunteer Day Walkathon: Key event hosted by BMC and held at Jeddah Waterfront. This initiative aimed to promote a culture of volunteerism and community engagement. Through collaboration with Jeddah Municipality and other organizations, BMC fostered lifelong learning through physical activity and social responsibility, encouraging participants to engage with and contribute to their community in meaningful ways.
Art Therapy Symposium & Mindfulness Panel: Events like these, open to the college community, address holistic well-being through creative expression and expert-led discussions, providing free access to mental and emotional wellness resources.
