Cross-Sectoral Dialogue about SDGs
BMC actively initiates and participates in dialogues that build bridges between academia, government, industry, and civil society.
Flagship Institutional Forums: The BMC Scientific Research Forum, themed “Scientific Research and SDG Compass,” is a prime example. It focused on integrated perspectives as well as showcased BMC's commitment to linking academic excellence with SDGs. It served as a dedicated platform for researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to discuss translating research into SDG-aligned action, focusing on key SDGs like health (SDG3), clean water (SDG6), and climate action (SDG13). The event underscored the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving global issues, drawing participants from universities and institutions across Saudi Arabia, Australia, Germany, England, and Egypt, thus broadening the scope of research partnerships.
Social Responsibility Forum (January 28, 2025): A landmark public event successfully convened more than 30 organizations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. By bringing together "thought leaders", the forum fostered high-level, strategic discussions on national priorities like health and education, with a focus on sustainable development and social investment. This made key strategic discussions directly accessible to the community.
Saudi Founding Day & National Days: These large-scale celebrations for Saudi Founding Day and National Day were open to the public and served to foster national identity and community cohesion. They highlighted the Kingdom's heritage through diverse cultural elements, including regional booths, traditional performances, food, and art.
Mental Health Research Forums October 2024 & October 2025: With the theme "Strategies for Sustainable Wellbeing," this annual forum became a key event demonstrating the institution's commitment to SDG 3 and SDG 17. The forum successfully gathered diverse stakeholders, including psychiatrists, psychologists, students, community leaders, and NGOs, to foster crucial cross-sectoral dialogue. Discussions focused on destigmatizing mental health and integrating mental well-being into public health policy. By promoting scientific research and facilitating these essential partnerships, the forum played a vital role in advancing evidence-based interventions for sustainable well-being.
TEDxBMC Events: By hosting TEDx conferences, BMC creates an accessible platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and healthcare professionals to share ideas on sustainability, technology, and social change, sparking dialogue that transcends traditional academic boundaries.
BMC's 4th Middle East Education and Training Exhibition (MEETS): This exhibition was held in 2024, which also represents a significant milestone in its commitment to creating international partnerships. MEETS provided a platform for BMC to engage with educational institutions, health organizations, and other stakeholders in the MENA region to promote best practices in medical education and healthcare. This event directly supports SDG 17 by encouraging knowledge sharing and international collaboration.
