I am not your fearless leader
Assignment 1 - "I am not your fearless leader"
Element of Creatureness = hierarchy / authority (and the temptation to abuse these)
People are surprisingly willing to do things they would rather not do when placed in an environment where there is a clear hierarchy and authority figure.
If artificial creatures are able to perform certain tasks better than humans they actually may perform better in certain types of leadership roles.
Organizations may have structures where artificial creatures actually complicate and challenge traditional modes of hierarchy
One could Imagine an artificial creature that provides more generalistic goals and tracking in progress toward certain goals rather than only a “robot” that primarily performs repetitive tasks under a human manager or supervisor.
Perhaps these kinds of bots can help humans rethink the flaws with hierarchy, for example how people in power often abuse power to their detriment and of those around them.
Are heirarchies worth keeping around? do they serve a useful function and how could they be modified to benefit everyone?
